The Chicago Artists Coalition offers three remaining panel discussions!

“The Impact of Chicago's Ethnic Communities on the City's Contemporary Art"

The Chicago Artists’ Coalition is proud to present five innovative panel discussions about the contributions that Chicago’s many ethnic groups have made to the city’s contemporary art. Through historical analysis, curators, art historians, and artists representing the four major population groups of Chicago (African-American, Latino, European, and Asian) will provide interesting perspectives on the development of Chicago’s cultural community.

This program is made possible in part by a grant from the Illinois Humanities Council, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Illinois General Assembly, and will be hosted by various institutions throughout the city.

Utrecht Celebrates 20 years in Chicago!

Starting in July of 2006, Utrecht Art Supplies celebrates its 20 years in Chicago as the preferred artist destination. Opening in 1986 for its first semester of classes, your store began a 20 year run of expansion and community involvements that has kept it in the hearts of many Chicago artists.

In preparation for this year, your store was remodeled so that it could carry an expanded product assortment dictated by the guests who shop here. A free gallery was created, and a warmer friendlier atmosphere was born.

A new gallery show also opens on July 6th.

Future events include a Chicago Artists Coalition only gallery show during the months of September and August, as well as free product giveaways throughout the back to school season.

Save Time and Money with the Utrecht Kit Program

Students and instructors have begun to take advantage of the Utrecht Kit program, making life easier and less expensive to start the semester. Students receive all of the supplies their instructors require, at a 15% discount for buying the supplies in kit form. It saves the student time as all the supplies are pre packed and ready to go. Money is saved because a 15% discount is given on the kit, as opposed to the every day 10% students discount that we offer.

Instructors love the kit program because it is easy and inexpensive for students. A kit is given to instructors so that they may have samples to show their students the first day of class when the syllabus is given. It is a no obligation program for instructors as they are not required to sell the kit, simply give their students the option to purchase if they like. Unsold kits will be returned to store stock to be sold.

Instructor class lists are posted on the Utrecht website, http://www.utrechtart.com/schools/dsp_viewschools.cfm?state=Illinois, so that students can also purchase from the web if they choose.

Class kits can be built as little as two weeks from the start of classes. Instructors are asked to submit class lists to our store, or through email at store05@utrecht.com. We will contact you with a formatted list of the items you ask for, for your final approval. Kits will then be built and on hand in our store for students to purchase. For further information, please call (312) 922-7565 and ask for Adam or Mark.

Demonstration Becomes Artistic Signature

When you visit your Michigan Avenue Utrecht, you are greeted with the opportunity to try the pride and joy of Utrecht Art Supplies. Pick up a brush and see why Utrecht paint is among the best in the paint industry. We were one of the first companies to make acrylic paint in our Brooklyn, NY plant, and still do today. With a low price and high quality, it is the best paint value in the market.

When you stop in and try our paint, you also have the opportunity to leave your artistic signature for all to see. As you try our paint, your brush strokes become a part of a community painting that is displayed in our Utrecht Gallery upon its completion.
