Create art and get paid for it!

Utrecht Chicago is allowing artist's to use the Utrecht Studio to work on their work while in a public setting. The studio setup allows artists to work freely, while interacting with other guests. This creative environment allows the artists to obtain valuable feedback and gives the guests and opportunity to inquire about the work they are seeing. Artists are compensated for their time and usually work in two to four hour blocks of time. If you have interest in this program, please see your Utrecht store manager and set up a time of your own to work. A schedule of future artists and time they will be working will be posted on the Utrecht Chicago store page at Utrecht.com.

Chicago's flagship store is given a facelift!

This past month our store saw one of the last phases in a two year project to revitalize our old store. A new tile floor was laid and has given the store a completely new appearance. After 20 years in our location, is was out with the old white tile, and in with a newer, cleaner grey tile that makes our store sparkle. Thought there are still a few minor appearance projects to complete, we are finally done with the heavy lifting. If you haven't been in for a while, take this as an invite to see our newly completed store!

Artist's taking advantage of free studio time.

For the past few months in our Michigan Ave store we have been sponsoring several artists who wish to showcase their talents in front of their peers and other Utrecht guests. As compensation for their valuable time, the artists are paid $10 an hour to talk with guests about there work and experience. This program is open to all for participation, simply contact the stores assistant manager, T.C. Dumont, for further details.

Bare Walls Scholarship Event

Utrecht Chicago has partnered with the School of the Art Institute of Chicago to participate in the Bare Walls program as one of the programs lead sponsors this year.

We have made a cash donation to this specific student scholarship fund, as well as a large donation of canvas and artist materials. Working with Prismacolor (Sanford) we will sponsor many alumni artists to paint for the sake of student scholarship funds.

Artists will create works on a live stage as guests of the event will have the opportunity to bid, and ultimately purchase the works of art made during the event. All proceeds from the sales of work go to student funds.

2nd Opening for CAC Show!

Thursday October 5th will be the second opening for the Chicago Artists Coalition gallery show at Utrecht Chicago. Come help us celebrate 20 years as Chicago's best art supplier as we welcome the CAC into our home.

This show runs until the end of October and features many of the CAC's best artists. We hope you will join us from 4-7pm for a small gathering and opening reception.

The Chicago Artists Coalition Around Town Program hits Utrecht.

On Thursday September 7th the CAC Around Town Gallery event came to Utrecht Chicago and was met with great optimism. Many CAC members joined other local artists to view work shown in the Utrecht Gallery. The show that consisits of 10 artists, opened Thursday night and will run through the end of October. A second opening will be held on October 5th at the 332 S Michigan Avenue location to help celebrate this colaborative effort.
